Three Q PERMS & TEMPS is a specialist provider of permanent and temporary recruitment.
Three Q stands for Quality service, with Qualified candidates in the Quantity required. With a proven track record in professional, healthcare and hospitality recruitment Three Q has found in-demand talent for employers for over 17 years. The company mission is to be THE QUALITY CHOICE RECRUITER that delivers for hiring companies and in demand professionals.

What led you to starting your business?

In 1999 Three Q set up as a niche temp agency to address a need in the market for qualified and experienced temp staff in the hospitality sector. The company then progressed into the recruitment permanent staff in the hospitality, healthcare, professional services and SME sectors.

How did you raise the funds you need for your business?

The initial funds to set up Three Q came from the founders personal funds, family loans and a credit union loan. These were supplemented by a micro-finance loan from Front Step within six months of set up. (First Step at that time specialised in providing micro finance loans to small companies)

What is the most significant lesson you have learnt in running your business?

Planning, adapting and persisting are constant components of any successful business operation that must be grounded in a clear vision that the team understands and pursues with the values Three Q believe in – partnership, integrity and quality.

What has been the proudest moment in your business so far?

Securing large scale contracts and retaining them despite economic downturn, industry events and price-wars.

What have been the biggest challenges in your business to date?

Operating as an SME in a sector with some heavy national and international hard hitters – small can be powerful so we promote the positives of working with a niche operator.

What advice would you give aspiring entrepreneurs thinking of starting a business?

Age old adage with persistence: Have a plan, work your plan – if the plan doesn’t work adapt and work the new plan…..

What’s the best business book you’ve ever read?

No single book ranks as the best but rather taking different messages from different books in the life-time of the business. Covey and 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, ‘Who moved my cheese’ and ‘Eat that Frog’ are all books I suggest our team members read. And an industry based book with regard to customer service ‘Lunch Meat & Life Lesson’s’ by Mary Lucas is a quick and valued read for recruiters.

Who is the entrepreneur you admire the most?

Irish wise it would be Mary Ann O’Brien of Lily O’Brien’s Chocolates – a powerhouse of a woman who exudes positivity and ‘can do’. Globally Oprah Winfrey for all that she has done and continues to do through HARPO.
