What led you to starting your business?

When I experienced first-hand what it was like to be a candidate looking for a job in the Irish market, this experience was a catalyst for me in identifying the important criteria that would have made me feel valued as a candidate by knowledgeable professionals. In 1997 CCP was established with these inherent values at our core.

How did you raise the funds you need for your business?

We were fortunate to secure a very small loan from our bank that gave us the necessary funding to start the business.

What is the most significant lesson you have learnt in running your business?

To take care of the people who work with us. High morale and a passion for what we do is paramount to our business success. We take care of each other and our clients and the business takes care of itself. We all have a vested interest in being the best at what we do. Our business is all about people at the end of the day.

What has been the proudest moment in your business so far?

Winning the Best in HR award with the SFA was certainly one of our proudest moments. It was an honour to be recognised for our achievements.

What have been the biggest challenges in your business to date?

Managing to remain in business during the recession was by far the biggest challenge so far. It required quick response times to the economic climate, savvy management of our cash flow and going the extra mile in everything we did. We were very fortunate to have an exceptionally strong multinational client base who continued to hire through the difficult times.

What advice would you give aspiring entrepreneurs thinking of starting a business?

To be persistent when the going gets tough. Don’t be afraid to seek advice from people who have done it before, there is a lot you can learn from previous experience.
