Submission on the cost of doing business

In June 2017, the SFA National Executive Council wrote a letter to the Chair and Clerk of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Business, Enterprise and Innovation highlighting the cost challenges for small firms. It urged the Committee to examine this area as a matter of urgency and develop policy solutions.

The Committee will focus on the cost of doing business as the central theme of its work from September to December 2017. In advance of these sessions, the SFA was asked to make a submission detailing the cost concerns of members.

On 25 August, the SFA made its submission (available in full below). It highlighted a number of general proposals relating to cost monitoring by government as well as outlining specific issues relating to labour costs, insurance costs and Local Authority rates and charges.
