· SFA National Small Business Showcase
Finalists from the Small Firms Association National Small Business Awards will gather at the Printworks Conference Centre, Dublin Castle from 2.30pm to 7pm on Thursday 5 February to showcase their businesses.
The event highlights the innovation, creativity, drive and passion that exist in the small business sector and is the last opportunity for the 38 award finalists to impress the judges ahead of the gala prize giving ceremony in March.
Speaking at the event SFA Chairman and Chair of the Awards Judging Panel, AJ Noonan commented: ”Following an intensive judging process in the SFA National Small Business Awards, 38 companies have been shortlisted as finalists. Today we are hosting this event to showcase these successful companies and highlight the positivity that is evident amongst small firms in Ireland. In a time when job creation needs to be foremost in our minds, it is companies like these that will prosper and provide future employment.”
Guest of Honour, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton, TD in his address stated: “Start-ups and SMEs are the backbone of the economy, employing hundreds of thousands of people and creating the majority of new jobs in Ireland. At the heart of our Action Plan for Jobs is supporting more small businesses to start-up, grow and create jobs, and in 2015 we will be implementing further measures on this front. I am delighted to be involved in this Small Firms Association event to celebrate the brilliant small businesses we have around the country. I wish all the finalists every success in the future.”
Seven categories are represented at the Showcase today: Outstanding Small Business (for up to five employees), sponsored by AIB; Manufacturing, sponsored by Energia; Food & Drink, sponsored by Bord Bia; Services, sponsored by Three, Innovator of the Year, sponsored by Enterprise Ireland, Small Business Exporter of the Year, sponsored by DHL Express and Environmental Sustainability, sponsored by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. These organisations have been dealing in very difficult times over the past few years but they have proven that they are resilient and forward thinking and I believe an inspiration to us all.
“I would urge anyone with an interest in business to join us in celebrating the best that small business in Ireland has to offer at our Showcase in The Printworks, Dublin Castle where the doors will open at 2.30pm.”
