The Chairman of the Small Firms Association, AJ Noonan, has today (29 April 2015) urged workers in Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann to call off seven days of strike action scheduled for May, starting this Friday.
Mr. AJ Noonan condemned the proposed action, saying that “it is designed to cause maximum disruption to commuters, shoppers and businesses over the bank holiday weekend and throughout the month of May. Passengers across Dublin and around the country depend on bus services to access their place of study or work and to connect with family, friends and businesses. Over 850,000 journeys will be affected and the economic impact will be significant.”
“Action such as this causes unnecessary disruption and frustration to passengers and other commuters. Ireland’s reputation as a great place to do business will suffer as a result. I call on SIPTU and NBRU workers to call off this action and resolve the dispute through negotiation channels,” Mr. AJ Noonan added.
