Summary of Business:Our business www.linkedfinance.com is going to change the face of small/medium sized business lending in Ireland. We are a very favourable alternative to the bank for SMEs looking to raise money to expand and grow their businesses. We are lending to SME's in Ireland by a new method called 'crowd funding'. We have successfully launched in March, and have people like Feargal Quinn and Bobby Kerr on our team.
What led you to starting your business?This form of ‘crowd funding’ is proving very popular and growing rapidly in the US,UK and Worldwide and we believe the time is perfect now for Ireland.
How did you raise the funds you need for your business?We have several private investors and also backing from Enterprise Ireland.
What is the most significant lesson you have learnt in running your business?We have learnt already that there is a massive appetite out there in the public to support SMEs in Ireland. Every community, city, town and village in Ireland has local business they want to support and help grow and succeed.
What has been the proudest moment in your business so far?When we funded our first 3 business loans in our first week of operation.
What have been the biggest challenges in your business to date?Building the technology behind the platform that allows for this ‘crowd funding’ to happen easily and simply for even the least IT savvy people.
What advice would you give aspiring entrepreneurs thinking of starting a business?I always think knowing a good accountant and learning the art of cash flows is vital.
What’s the best business book you’ve ever read?What would Google do.
Who is the entrepreneur you admire the most?Richard Branson seems to achieve a lot even when he is hot air ballooning around the world.
